I woke up today to the news of the death of a friend. It's quite saddening that the person in question was a devoted young man who believed so much in Christ when he was alive; yet, he died at a tender age. After i got the news, i began to think about who he was in Christ and why God decided to take him this early; someone who would have done so much exploit. I also thought about my whole life and how i have been taking the things of God. If i die today, what report do i present to God about the work he has placed in my hands?
I wanna suggest you search through your mind and give a befitting answer to that question. I also want you to read through this list:- Thing a christian should achieve before death comes
1. Read the Bible in a year
The Bible is great in small chunks, but as one great big narrative of
God's relationship with mankind, it's extraordinary and compelling.
It's no small task, but when we read the Bible as a whole and in order,
we're treated to the big picture; we get a far greater understanding of
what all these smaller bits mean in context. Various Bibles and study
plans exist to help you in your quest.
2.
Invite a friend to church
For some people this is a no-brainer; an activity repeated hundreds
of times already. For others of us, this is the sort of suggestion that
turns our blood ice-cold. Actually plucking up the courage to ask a
friend or neighbour to come to that weird building that you disappear
into each Sunday can be really tough, especially if we lack
self-confidence. The thing to remember: they might really like it, and
they might meet God, and become much happier and more fulfilled in their
life as a result. Why wouldn't you want that for them?
3.
Fast
This isn't about going on the 5:2 diet (although that can present an
opportunity for spiritual reflection), but undertaking a proper,
sustained fast from food in order to spend time seeking God. Physical
hunger creates spiritual hunger in parallel; a vacuum within us into
which God moves. Three days is a good amount of time, but don't attempt
that straight away; build up to it by missing a meal, then fasting for a
day once or twice.
4.
Win someone to Jesus.
To do this, I suggest three steps: pray, asking the Holy Spirit to lead
you in this. Second, find a plan. If someone walks up and says, "Tell
me how to be saved," you need to have an answer. Remember, no sermons.
And no fuzziness. Get it straight and keep it simple.
5.
Learn to pray better.
One of the finest things that could happen to many of us would be to
develop a divine dissatisfaction with our prayer life. Just make up our
mind that there's more to this prayer business than I've found out, and
set ourselves to learning how to pray better and more effectively.
6. Find someone from your past and apologize.
7. Find your spiritual gift and put it to use.
8. Do a random act of kindness.
9. Visit a mission field and do something there for Jesus.
This particular post is dedicated to Emmanuel Uko.
May your gentle soul rest in the bossom of our Lord Jesus Christ
